some Bay Area Variety

Hey I won Peoples Choice at the Men Who Cook Event. So you know they gotta be good!

I was torn between 2 very simple and tasty appetizers served by 2 very lovely ladies. 1 is a veggy lover, the other a meat-eater. I figured by preparing both I couldn’t go wrong!

Sondra’s Caprese BitesCaprese Bites

1 pkg grape or cherry tomatoes
1 pkg mozzarella cheese ball
1 pkg toothpicks
1 bottle balsamic glaze
Kosher salt
Pepper
Basil leaves, thinly sliced
Extra virgin olive oil

Cut tomatoes in half, thread half of tomato, cheese ball, and another tomato onto toothpick.
Place in a shallow serving plate or bowl

Season with salt and pepper
Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze
Sprinkle with basil

Shana's Stuffed MushroomsStuffed Shrooms

1 lb ground sausage (hot)
1 8oz tub cream cheese w/chive & onion
1 lg package whole mushrooms
Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350.  Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems making sure there is enough room for filling.  Brown the sausage.

Add the cream cheese to the sausage and mix until it is melted. Stuff one teaspoonful of the sausage mixture into each mushroom.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake for 15 minutes.
