Receive Real Time Crime Statistic on Your iPhone for Free
League City iPhone users can now receive real time crime statistics on their phones for free. It is part of a web-based program accessible to the public called CrimeReports.com. The program publishes crime data from the League City Police Department’s databases as well as the databases of Webster, Alvin, Deer Park and other cities around the nation. The information is uploaded into an interactive mapping website.
Since September, The League City Police Department has been putting this near-real time data into the public’s hands via their computers. Now, that information is available through a free iPhone application as well. The brand new iPhone application allows citizens to access the CrimeReports national crime map wherever they are. It features all the functions of the computer based online map, with the added features of pinpointing the users’ GPS location. Now, wherever you are, all you have to do is bring up the CrimeReports application and you’ll be able to see near real time crime and sex offender data around your current location. Both the computer and iPhone programs offer users the option of signing up for daily, weekly or monthly email alerts about criminal activity in their neighborhood. The League City Police Department expects a new level of collaboration will develop between the citizens and the police as crime and disorder problems become readily accessible for analysis by the public. Please review our efforts at CrimeReports.com and register your name for crime alerts concerning your neighborhood. You can also download the CrimeReports.com application for free at the iPhone apps store.
