Clear Lake and Galveston Bay Area Travel Guide

Last-Minute Summer Vacation Ideas

Perhaps you’ve been putting off planning a summer vacation due to economic uncertainties – but now that summer is here, you have an irresistible urge to travel.

There are two pieces of good news. First, it’s never too late to plan a summer vacation, especially with the help of a travel professional. Second, there are some excellent travel values available: let the travel professionals at Future Travel provide expert assistance to help you find a great deal.

The summer of 2009 offers a wide range of vacation opportunities. For example, it’s prime time to head to a beach where you can relax on the sand or get active with a snorkel or kayak. Beaches to consider include Cape May, located at the southern most tip of New Jersey. The entire city of Cape May, with its well-maintained Victorian structures, is a National Historic Landmark. On the west coast, consider Cannon Beach, Oregon, which features an annual sandcastle building contest and Haystack Rock, the world’s third-largest freestanding monolith. For golden sand and swaying palms, head to the beaches of Hawaii, such as Honaunau Bay on the Big Island or Maui’s Kapalua Beach.

If a vacation with nonstop thrills is more your style, choose a theme park as the centerpiece. Everyone knows about all the fun provided by the big Disney and Universal theme parks in Florida and California, but during the summer months there are many other options. Silverwood, located just outside Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is the largest theme park in the northwest. Its attractions include two classic wooden rollercoasters and a big water park. Admission to Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, includes admission to an adjacent zoo and the Hershey’s Chocolate World visitor center. Funtown Splashtown, on Maine’s southern coastline, has New England’s longest and tallest log flume and a 220-foot-high drop tower.

If a big-city vacation is what you long for, the economic slowdown is producing some attractive airfare, hotel and entertainment packages in cities like New York, Boston, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. A slowdown in convention business has made some Las Vegas packages more affordable, too.

We at Future Travel have a lot of ideas for your last-minute summer vacation, so call 281-480-1988 and start packing!
