Year Round – Heart of Sailing – Kemah
The Heart of Sailing foundation is a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) international organization which provides a nautical adventure and sailing recreational therapy FREE for cognitively impaired (e.g., Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, etc.) children. Teaching sailing to our Special Needs children as a form of therapy has proven to be an exhilarating experience, yet calming, tranquil and highly rewarding … for the children, their parent(s), care giver(s), as well as those of those who serve them.
The Heart of Sailing’s Houston-Galveston Chapter is one of twelve and is only known service of its kind in the United States. It is unique in that, not only is it free, but it is offered weekly, throughout the entire year.
Listen to Capt. David McCabe as he tells Talk of the Bay what Hearts of Sailing is about, how it is run, how it affects lives and how you might be able to help.
