February 20 – Clear Creek Cleanup – League City
More than 300 volunteers came out to Clear Creek to help pick up trash floating in the creek and hiding in the marsh grasses. This volunteer effort has continued on for 7 weekends. Hundreds of tons of trash were collected and stored on barges anchored along the creek banks.
On February 20, the kids gathered up for one last collection and then the grand finale of unloading. There were 3 barges piled with trash; everything from refrigerators, tires, wood and hose reels. Trash was unloaded in an assembly line fashion until there was nothing left. All the while, these kids laughed and had fun and some even came up with ideas to work on ‘green’ projects in their school.
It’s all about the community and the kids. It’s all about getting these young folks involved every year. It’s all about these kids show all of us what community spirit is all about.

While unloading the trash, a Christmas family photo surfaced. A little muddy but encased and actually well preserved in a frame. So, we thought it would be fun to see if we could find the family in the photo and return it to them. So take a look and see if you recognize any of them.
