February 21 – Z Krewe Processional and Balcony Party – Galveston

Saturday afternoon, we lined up by the Galveston Railroad Museum for the Z Krewe Processional. This year, Z Krewe invited all of the other Krewes to participate, as a united front after Hurricane Ike.
 

Each of these krewes and their members suffered from the devastation of Ike. Many are still displaced and waiting for their homes to be rebuilt. But for this year’s Mardi Gras, they came together, united in numbers and with a quest to show everyone that the Mardi Gras spirit is very much alive and well in Galveston.

Listen in as Talk of the Bay takes you to the Z Krewe processional and out on the Z Krewe balcony for some bead throwing and of course to watch the Knights of Momus parade.

Thanks to all of the krewes; it is this community of people, and the folks that came out to enjoy the fun, that made Mardi Gras 2009 a huge success.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Z Krewe, for their great hospitality and for the fun time in the processional and out on that balcony. What a hoot!
