Krewe of
Gambrinus – Galveston
The Krewe of Gambrinus was founded 21 years ago under the name of Krewe
of Brew, in honor of the Del Papa family business. Now known as the
Krewe of Gambrinus, these fun loving folks are ready to bring in the
2010 Mardi Gras season.
On Sunday December 6th at
Fisherman's Wharf the Krewe of Gambrinus gathered to celebrate with a
Christmas Party and King's Day. It is at this event that the new King
and Queen are selected in traditional Mardi Gras style. Whomever, finds
the baby hidden in the King’s cake becomes the head of the new royal
court.
The Krewe of Gambrinus proudly presents King Gambrinus XXI, Bartt G.
Thompson and Her Royal Highness Cynthia Joan Thomson. The royal couple
will officially be crowed at their coronation on January 30th at the
Moody Gardens Hotel. From that moment on they shall reign over the 2010
festivities.
King Bartt and Queen Cynthia will be riding atop the Royal Float during
the Krewe of Gambrinus parade on February 6th. One of the largest and
most popular events of Galveston’s Mardi Gras, this parade travels along
the Seawall from 23rd Street to Central City Blvd. All are invited to
join the royal couple and their count for an evening of cheer, fun and
lots of beads.
