TALK of
the BAY
October 2 – B52s
At The Grand 1894 Opera House - Galveston
Thank you WiredIn.cc for taking Donna and me to the B 52s concert.
Everyone there was partying and dancing and having a fantastic time. B
52s came out and started right off with their signature style and
excellent vocals.
Except for a technical glitch during the second and third song (they
repeated the third song) the concert went on flawlessly. Kate Pierson
and Cindy Wilson harmonized as well as ever and Fred Schneider was
having a blast with the music. Kate and Cindy even showed how strong
their voices were when the technical glitch hit and their microphones
malfunctioned. You could still hear them sing. They danced and moved all
over the stage and they even interacted and played with the audience.

Speaking of the audience they were dancing all over The Grand, many were
in the B 52 style (Mod) clothing and the beehive hairdos. The B 52s know
how to energize a crowd and get everyone dancing. Kate and Cindy sang a
strong and powerful version of Roam and of course The Love Shac’ got
everyone up and on their feet dancing.
One thing about The Grand in Galveston is it is an intimate setting.
Everyone has a great seat and you are right there in front of the
performers. I highly recommend the next time the B 52s come to town
catch them. You will not be disappointed! - Rick Wade – League City
Rick and Donna Wade were our contest winners. They joined us for the
concert on Friday night. We couldn’t agree with Rick more, The Grand is
not only grand in appearance and ambience it certainly provides great
viewing of any act performing there.
Editor’s Note: Due to contractual agreements no photos, audio or video
were allowed at the B52 concert. So we just kicked back and enjoyed!
