Firefighters Childrens Parade Krewe - Galveston

The 4th Annual Galveston Firefighters Children’s Parade will be held on February 3, 2008 at 2:00PM. This year's theme is "Pirates Of The Island"

The tradition of firefighters helping children dates back to the beginning of the profession. It is, and will continue to be, the primary focus of firefighters.

So it is no surprise that in 2005, when the Childrens Parade was in jeopardy, that the Galveston Firefighters stepped in with their "Save the Children's Parade" campaign. Now, in the loving hands of the Galveston Firefighters, the Children's Parade is thriving.

With more than two dozen floats and 150 walkers, parade participants wave and throw beads to the more than 50,000 spectators watching the parade. Scouts, children's organizations and families come from all over the Houston-Galveston area to participate in the parade. The Mummers come from as far away as Philadelphia.

Listen in as Firefighter and parade coordinator, Charlie Olsen tells Talk of the Bay about the Mardi Gras Children's Parade.

For more information on participating or supporting this parade call Charlie Olsen at (409) 789-1265 or visit www.childrensparade.org .
