The Bay Area Bluegrass Association, aka BABA, hosts monthly shows on the third
Saturday of each month at the Johnny Arolfo Civic Center (except in December) at
300 W. Walker, League City, Texas and the FIRE ON THE STRINGS FESTIVAL at
Haven's Landing Resort the third weekend of May.
These monthly shows are free and feature Bluegrass from the local and national
scene. The stage show begins at 6:30 PM, but pickers are welcome to bring
their instruments and come earlier.
Listen in as Ed Fryday tells Talk of the Bay about BABA and the toe tappin’
music he loves.
The primary purpose for the Bay Area Bluegrass Association is to preserve,
encourage, and promote Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music as an American art
form.
BABA has supported many bay area community functions, fund raisers, festivals
and shows. Including Crime Stoppers fund raiser; Armand Bayou Nature Center's
Fall Festival; the Annual Fire On The Strings Bluegrass Festival; Bluegrass In
The Park at League Park; Dickinson Parks Dept. concert series; and providing
entertainment for area nursing homes, churches, and service organizations.
Stop This Train sound bite is performed by The Lonestar Bluegrass Band on the
BABA Sessions CD.
