The 2012 Epicurean Evening, hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, was enjoyed by more than 2000 guests. Restaurants from around the bay area displayed their signature dishes making this event a culinary extravaganza. In the true spirit of Mard Gras and the true tradition of Z Krewe the Zanies celebrated the 18th annual coronation of their King and Queen. Themed “Cowboy to Couture…From the Range to the Runway.” This show brought everything from the flair of fun of casual attire to formal elegance of evening wear. Complete with strolling minstrels, jugglers, dirty faced chimney cleaners, beautiful ladies dressed in wonderful hooped gowns and gentlemen in top hats; all making the Victorian era of Dickens come to life. Carnival Magic | A First Hand Peek | Galveston
Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest ship Carnival Magic, a 4,724 passenger ship, crossed the Mediterranean and arrived in Galveston, Texas on November 13th. Mayor Joe Jaworski and Captain Giovanni Cutugno, Master of the Carnival Magic, hosted the traditional Maritime Plaque Ceremony. The event featured guest speaker Maximillian Riedel, 11th generation family member and co-owner of Riedel Crystal. November 5,2011 | Houston We Have A Mission | League City
The KiMe Fund was established in 2010 with a mission to find a cure for Parkinson’s by funding research that have the best chance for a cure. Steve Hodges, who grew up in the Houston area, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 48. Since that overwhelming day, Steve decided to establish the KiMe fund. Shorthand for his two daughters, Kim and Megan, KiMe is symbolic of the drive to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Spectators lined both sides of the Strand, in Galveston for the 2011 Lone Star Rally. Ready to party tens of thousands of bikers rode in on their steel horses for a weekend of fun. Every make and model was there to be seen and admired; from Harleys, custom bikes, trikes to crotch rockets. Lifting space exploration to new heights the 2011 Re/Max Ballunar Liftoff Festival was a day filled with aeronautic excitement. Opening ceremonies on Friday night included the United States flag flying high from a Re/Max hot air balloon as the Star Spangled Banner played in the background. October 22, 2011 | 50th Anniversary Celebration | Seabrook
The city of Seabrook, Tx celebrated its 50th anniversary with a parade through the city which finished up at Rex L. Meader Park. The parade included several floats along with a complete replica of a western stagecoach. The main attraction of the parade was one of NASA’s space Mars rover vehicles. October 15, 2011 | Fall Extravaganza Car Show | League City
On Saturday October 15th, 2011 the Space City Cruisers held their semi-annual car show at Walter Hall Park in League City, Texas. This judged event featured 35 different classes of cars which just about covered every kind of car this is. Classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, and some very whimsy style cars were on display throughout the day.

It was a BEAUTIFUL Fall day in our bay area and there were a number of events happening. So we decided to visit a few of or friends around the lake.
Our first stop was in the wonderful town of Kemah. The merchants and the city pulled together to host their first Fall Art Walk and The Kemah Lighthouse District was the perfect venue for this little outdoor event. check out the pics... |

The skies were clear and blue, an absolutely perfect weekend for the annual Wings Over Houston Airshow hosted by the Commemorative Air Force. Thousands of folks were arriving as the ReMax Skydiving Team officially opened the event with O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner; the thrills continued throughout the weekend. October 8th & 9th, 2011 | Bike Around the Bay 2011 | Galveston Bay
Close to 1000 cyclists gathered up in Fort Anahuac Park early Saturday morning for the annual Bike Around The Bay. Hosted by
the Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) this 150 mile bike ride is a fund raiser for GBF to assist in the support of Galveston Bay.

In preparation for the upcoming 27th Wings Over Houston Airshow on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16 the local media was given a peek at the awesome upcoming show. This annual media day was held on the grounds of Ellington Airport. Some of the media were treated to vintage aircraft rides including Wiredin.cc's own Eddie Harper. A variety of talented bay area folks competed at the first Galaxy Singer & Songwriter competition at The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake (TAACCL). Each artist sang and played their original music; from pop, to folk, to country the tunes kept coming. J.R. Jones, originally from East Texas, sang an amusing song about cows, talented Ivy Woolley performs as a street musician in Galveston and Bob Fuller, of Keels & Wheels fame, performed a wonderful folk song…close your eyes so you can see. With small craft advisories out, the usually crowd of boaters were not able to make it out to Redfish Island. The concept of the dinner is to have local politicians act as waiters and waitresses for guests attending the event. Additionally, each politician may be asked to provide various forms of entertainment for the guests at their assigned table, in return guests contribute monetary tips. With friends and family gathered together we headed for the beautiful Riviera Maya region of Mexico. Located about midway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, this region of Mexico offers stunning beaches, great fishing, diving and an awesome setting for a wedding. That’s right, I’m delighted to announce that, after a 2 ½ year engagement, Paul Fjelsta and I were married on July 19 on a beautiful beach at the Grand Mayan resort. Starting out with a downhome Western skit, the Boot Scootin Social was a great time. A group of fun loving Butler Longhorn Musem supporters put together an original skit to entertain guests. With a rifle packing Annie Oakly, the Town’s Preacher and the local harlot flirting with the gentlemen in the audience, The Shootout at the OK Corral, presented by Pistols & Petticoats was a hit. July 4, 2011 – A Salute to Volunteerism | Kemah
A wonderful small town Fourth of July parade followed by a big town fireworks show, a true 4th of July celebration. Led by Mayor Bob Cummins, the Children’s parade made its way through the Kemah Lighthouse District. Bicycles, wagons, little kids and big kids all decorated in red, white and blue. Following the kids parade, the new mayor of Kemah also led the Salute to Volunteerism parade. Listen in as Talk of the Bay joins in this wonderful Independence Day tradition. |

June 25, 2011 - American Spirit Boat Parade | Nassau Bay
An important part of supporting our troops overseas is to support their loved ones. Jim Stoa, of www.WeCareEvents.com, and his committee do just that. This year, We Care Events honored the 1st Battalion 23 Marine Regiment and their family members.

The Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation’s 7th Annual Salute to Heroes Reception was held on June 23, 2011 in the Crystal Ballroom at South Shore Harbour Hotel. The room was filled with a community of people there to honor our military and to support the fundraisings efforts for scholarship money for the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation. June 19, 2011 – Tina Montana Benefit Concert & Fundraiser | Seabrook
Sunday, June 19 friends of Tina Montana, from around the bay area, pulled together to raise funds at a concert and benefit for Tina’s children. While riding as a passenger, Tina was killed early Saturday morning (06/11/11) in a tragic car accident. Tina leaves behind FOUR children, Zane (19), Cerise (17), Greg (13) and Alana (10). June 11, 2011- Marsh Mania | Bay Area
Hundreds of volunteers gathered at different locations around Galveston Bay to participate in the second Marsh Mania for 2011. Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) hosts the event twice, annually. We visited with the folks working in the Clear Lake Forest Park neighborhood. Armed with shovels, marsh grass, smiling faces and generous hearts more than 60 people endured the sun and heat to help restore the shoreline. June 4, 2011 – AIA Sand Castle Competition | Galveston
A Houston engineering firm, Jacobs of Houston, proved you can “Have Your Sandcastle and Eat it Too” Saturday in Galveston when they took home the first place prize in one of the world’s largest amateur sandcastle competitions. The phrase was the title of their “Golden Bucket” award-winning sandcastle design at the 25th annual AIA SandCastle Competition held on Galveston’s East Beach.
