District 24 Students Apply For Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program
Rep. Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood) would like to remind and encourage students within District 24 to apply for the newly created Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP).
The 2009 Texas Legislature created the TASSP to promote student participation in Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) programs at civilian colleges. The Governor, Lt. Governor and each member of the Texas Legislature may nominate a single applicant to receive up to $10,000 for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Rep. Taylor will appoint a local nominations board to consider applicants, then submit one final nomination to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board no later than March 12, 2010. Interested students may request an application packet by contacting Rep. Taylor's district office at (281) 338-0924. Applications must be submitted to the district office no later than March 3, 2010.
Rep. Taylor is a member of the House Insurance Committee, House Ways & Means Committee, Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board, and the House Select Committee's on Emergency Preparedness and Special Purpose Districts. He represents District 24 in Galveston County and is serving his fourth term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. |
