Call To Action - Nasa Constellation Program
Dear Fellow Chamber Member,
The proposed federal budget released February 1, 2010 has cut NASA's Constellation Program. The economic impact on the Bay Area would be greatly affected and not to mention the loss of technical advancements we have learned to trust and rely on. According to Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Johnson Space Center attributes 31,497 jobs locally and manages an annual budget of 5.9 million. We must form a partnership to restore and preserve key components of human spaceflight exploration. We urge all of our members to contact their elected officials Now. Make your voice heard Loud and Clear.
The League City Chamber of Commerce is taking a leadership role in the fight to preserve and support the Johnson Space Center and human spaceflight. In the coming weeks we will be meeting with officials and community leaders to reach Congress and the Administration to divert this path to dismantle the human spaceflight program. We, the people, must fight to preserve a central role for Johnson Space Center. The chamber is committed to informing and educating our members of all developments and more information is to follow. We suggest you go to the GoBoldlyNasa.org site immediately for more information. The site is user friendly and easily transmits messages to your elected officials based on your address.
Our future role as a leader in space and worldwide is hanging in the balance. Future generations depend on us to maintain leadership in space and keep America safe and in control of our own destiny.
Sincerely,
Johnette Norman
