Boundary Committee Releases Recommendations for 2010-2011
The School Boundary Advisory Committee (SBAC), comprised of 27 citizens
representing the entire district, has developed a set of recommendations
for public feedback and ultimately for consideration by the Clear Creek
Independent School District Board of Trustees. The Board will have final
approval on school boundaries for the 2010-2011 school year. The purpose
of the SBAC was to populate Clear Falls High School, Bayside
Intermediate, and even out the population across all high school
attendance boundaries.
Four public hearings will be held in December in order for the committee
to receive feedback from the community. Those meetings are scheduled
from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on December 8, 2009 at Clear Brook High
School; December 10, 2009 at Clear Springs High School; December 15,
2009 at Clear Lake High School; and December 17, 2009 at Clear Creek
High School. A final recommendation will be presented to the CCISD Board
of Trustees during its January general meeting. Following is a summary
of the committee’s recommendations with associated proposed maps:
Clear Falls High School, under the proposed plan, will include all
students who live in the Seabrook Intermediate, Bayside Intermediate,
and the Hyde Elementary attendance zones.
Bayside Intermediate, under the proposed plan, will include all students
who live in the Sandra Mossman Elementary and Stewart Elementary
attendance zones.
All students who live in the Ralph Parr Elementary attendance zone,
under the proposal, will go to Clear Creek High School. Currently the
Ralph Parr attendance zone feeds into Clear Springs High School.
All students who live in the Whitcomb Elementary attendance zone, under
the proposal, will go to Clear Lake High School. Currently a portion of
Whitcomb Elementary attendance zone feeds into Clear Brook High School.
When opening a new high school, the practice in CCISD is the incoming
9th grade and 10th grade students will transfer to the new school, the
junior and senior classes remain. The SBAC is recommending to the Board
that this practice apply to all high schools affected by the proposal.
When opening a new intermediate school, all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade students will transfer to the new school. Parents may seek a
waiver for 8th grade but will need to provide transportation.
