A Homerun At Ross Elementary
Craig Biggio, Roy Oswalt, Pedro Feliz and Geoff Blum only spent a couple of hours at Ross Elementary School but the impact from their visit on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 will last a little longer. The former and current players’ talked with students about the importance of teamwork, making good grades and listening to their parents.
The Team A.C.T. assembly emphasized how Accountability, Choices, and Trust can make a community a better place. Members of the Astros Caravan also answered questions, offered the students autographs and posed for pictures. Two lucky 5th Grade classes won an up close and personal session with the baseball players. “It was awesome, really cool,” said student Nathan Ortiz. Alexandra Morales, a 5th grader at Ross Elementary explained, “I’ve never been to an Astros game. For them to sign a baseball and get to meet them, it’s really cool.” Shelby Magyar, a Ross 5th grader too, summed it up for her entire class, “A once in a lifetime experience!” |
