Furry Friends of the Bay Area

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce and Gabbana

Dolce and Gabbana are gorgeous one-year-old Russian blue siblings rescued from an animal shelter.  Legend states that the Russian Blue is a descendant of the royal cats owned by the Russian Czars. Russian Blues are famous for their plush blue coat which has a silvery sheen, the result of silver tipping on the hair.   Dolce is a little shy at first, but loves pets, head-rubs and CANNED FOOD!  Gabbana is a regal, sweet male.  And even at a year, they still have a lot of kitten left in them!  Second Chance Pets adoptions are held Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Petco on Bay Area Blvd. at Space Center Blvd.  For more information email SCP at pets2adopt@yahoo.com or go to www.secondchancepets.org.

HankHank

Male   Maine Coon-Domestic Medium Hair Mix   Born 2009 - I'm a big, handsome guy with beautiful eyes. I'm affectionate, love attention and especially belly rubs - for which I can often demand :). I am fine with other cats, but I can sometimes get carried away with play time. I will do best in an all adult family or one with older children. Please visit all of our Furry Friends

Butterbrickle and Toffee

Walk like an Egyptian… Butterbrickle and Toffee are 5-month-old brown/Egyptian Mau Mixes.  Maus are known for the 'M' marking on their foreheads which is evident in this photograph.  They are one of the few naturally spotted breeds of domesticated cat. The Egyptian Mau is the fastest of the domestic cats, and have been clocked running over 36 mph!

This brother and sister were unceremoniously dumped at a cat sanctuary.  They love to snuggle with each other and also run (very fast) and play. These sweet siblings get along with other nice kitties and calm dogs.

A discount will be given if they are adopted together.  Visit Butterbrickle and Toffee on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at  Petco on Bay Area Blvd. near Space Center Blvd.  SCP also shows animals on the first and third Sundays of the month at Petsmart across from Baybrook Mall.

The adoption fee per cat starts at $95. All cats are tested for FIV and Leukemia, fully vaccinated, fixed, de-wormed,  treated for fleas AND microchipped. For more information on all SCP pets go to www.secondchancepets.org or email pets2adopt@yahoo.com.

MiracleMiracle

Miracle is a 7-year-old female who has already used 4 of her nine lives… She was burned as a kitten, rescued from shelter death row twice and endured an untreated eye infection which left her eyes cloudy. Now, her soft fur covers the burns, her eyes are clearing with medication & her purr-motor is set on high volume.

Despite her past she remains sweet, loves to be brushed and will tell you all about her day while you pet & love on her. Miracle is social & gets along fine with other kitties & calm dogs. Visit Miracle at Petco (Bay Area Blvd. near Space Center Blvd.) on Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Contact SCP at pets2adopt@yahoo.com or on the web at www.secondchancepets.org.

On behalf of all of our Furry Friends And Their Families
Submitted by Susan Boyd

Before humans die, they write their Last Will and Testament, give their home and all they have, to those they leave behind.  If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I would ask …
To the poor and lonely stray, I’d give my happy home, my bowl, cozy bed and all my toys, the lap which I loved so much, and the tender loving touch.
Also, I give the hand that stroked my fur and the sweet voice which called my name.  I’d will to the sad, scared shelter animal, the place I had in my human’s loving heart of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and the pain are more than I can stand.”  Instead, go find an unloved animal.  One who’s life holds no hope or joy, and give MY place to him.
This is the only thing that I can give….the love I left behind.
This is my inheritance; my last will and testament!

I'm a gentle and loving gal who is on the small side, often being mistaken for a kitten. I enjoy being petted and playing. My nickname is Lil Momma, since I had kittens at a very young age. I am good with other cats, whether it be kittens or adults.

Gentle Bob-Cat – 2 year old Brown Tabby Male

Gentle Bob-Cat is a two-year-old brown tabby male.  He is as sweet and loving as can be.  Bob was part of the trade that Second Chance Pets made with a pet sanctuary in order to be able to place two kitty cat brothers that had been returned after living together for eight years.  SCP was unable to place them.   But the brothers (Little Bear and Big Bear) can now live out the rest of their lives together in the sanctuary, a safe and calm habitat.

In exchange for “the bears” SCP took eight of the sanctuaries more adoptable cats and Bob is one of them.  He was hand-picked by one of our rescue professionals because he has all the attributes a family could want in a cat.  He is great with other cats and quiet dogs.   Please consider adding Bob to your family. SCP adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Petco on Bay Area Blvd. near Space Center Blvd.

Visit Bob and other SCP pets at www.secondchancepets.org.  The adoption fee for cats starts at $95. All pets are heartworm tested, on Heartguard,  spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and de-fleaed. And ALL animals are micro-chipped.  SCP is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit animal welfare organization.  All donations are tax-deductible.

Rescued Dolphin, “Raine”, Making Progress In Galveston Due To Intensive Care

“Raine”, a female dolphin, rescued by the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network on Thanksgiving weekend after her stranding on Sargent Beach, TX is recovering. Raine was not able to swim on her own upon arrival to the rehabilitation facility in Galveston, so she has been supported in the water since her arrival by trained volunteers and staff over the last two weeks. Raine has grown stronger and is now swimming on her own for short periods throughout the day, while still requiring support as she grows tired.  get the scoop...

RoseanneRoseanne
Female  Domestic Short Hair Mix  Born 2008

I'm a chubby girl who is very loving. I get along with other cats and even though I need to lose a few pounds, I can play, roll around and show my stuff with the best of them. One of my favorite things (other than food) is catnip. Just rub that stuff on a soft toy and watch. I also flop down and turn up my belly for rubs. I just need a home where I get lots of affection and I am limited to two feedings a day. I am jealous of all the trim kitties getting adopted -- just like them; I have so much love to offer for a lifetime.

Galveston County Animal Resource Center Needs Your Help - Galveston

The Galveston County Animal Resource Center (ARC) needs your help now more than ever.  We have a few wonderful dogs that have been overlooked for adoption and have been at ARC since for a while.  We need people to spend some time with these  dogs out in the yards and to play, enjoy them and help them practice basic obedience.

Also, please consider taking one of our furry friends home with you for a sleepover; it makes a world of difference when we can give a potential adopter vital information on these animals.  Remember, before the holidays is the best opportunity for these pets to be adopted. Santa will be coming to the ARC on Dec. 10 at 4-6pm.  You can bring your kids and fur-kids to have picture with Santa.

ARC is located at 3412 Loop 197 North, Texas City. Please visit our Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/GCASAdoption or call 409-94-2485.

Socks - Bay Area Pet AdoptionsSocks
Male - Tabby Mix - Born July 2004

I'm a great guy who is very loving. I enjoy laying around, especially in places that are too small for me. It's like a contest to see if I can fit into that small basket or not ;) -- I just can't help myself. I'm currently the house-cat here and everyone is great to me. But I really want a home of my own with a nice recliner to curl up in with my person while watching television.  Then, at night, a big soft bed to share with my person; purring in their ear as we fall asleep.

She is patient during medical treatments & romps with the other cats in her foster home. You can donate for Pixie exclusively by mailing checks to Second Chance Pets, P.O. The cats have never been separated and Second Chance Pets is determined to keep them together. They have nothing but love to give as they are both big lap kitties. They are craving human love and attention. They are not kittens, but they will shower you with appreciation, devotion, and love if you adopt them. They are de-clawed on their front paws. SCP will offer a discount on the pair. They are looking for a very special person to take them into their heart and home.

Silky Black Lab
Hobo, a beautiful silky 6-year-old black Lab, is an easy goin' guy who seems to have lost his way.  He was found wandering alone last Christmas night (a very cold night) and brought inside which likely saved his life.   He gets along well with his new dog and cat friends.  He is house-trained and is doing well with his leash training.  He doesn't chew on things and when he goes outside, he doesn't dig or try to get out of the backyard.  If you would like a real 75 lb. couch potato to enjoy your evening TV programs with, Hobo is the perfect dog for you.

Puppies Need A Home - Yeah!  All of the puppies found a home the same day!

Furry Friends In Need of Foster Homes

The dogs in the attachment to this e mail are spayed or neutered and sociable and either potty trained or making progress with it.  They could be a little shy at first, but they desperately need someone to foster them.  Many of the other dogs in this household will unfortunately have to be taken to a shelter.  We are trying to save as many as we can.

If you have room in your heart and home for one or two of these very needy dogs, please let me know as soon as possible.  We are expecting to have them come to Petco this Saturday on 7/30 to be relinquished to SCP if we have found places for them to go.  find out more...

Baby Needs A Home

This baby needs a new home.  Know anyone in the market? If you have room in your home and in your heart, please give this little fellow a chance.  If not, please forward this to those you know who might love this little guy!

This 1 year old Dashaund mix was left in his carrier on the U of H campus with a note that his owner was no longer able to take care of him.  He is very friendly, seems to be in good health, appears clean and kept, and is well behaved.  His foster parents have older cats and cannot keep him more than a week or two. He was taken to the vet today for a check-up and shots and am happy to report that he is heartworm free, got his ‘1st year’ shots including rabies shot/booster, is 12.3# and was reported to be in good health.
At this time, he is not neutered, but his foster folks said, “but if that’s a deal breaker we can talk.”
Dawn can be reached by cell phone at:  713-824-1530

Halle Yeah! Halle has been adopted!

Hound/Lab Mix  Chocolate Brown
Approx. 7 months old

Halle is a hound/Lab mix. She is a beautiful chocolate brown color, approximately seven-months-old. She loves to be around her people and will follow them everywhere they go. She is very cuddly and sweet and likes to sit in your lap. She was found with another dog at a storage facility next to the dumpster. It is unclear as to whether someone left them there or they just found their way there hoping someone would help them. Halle talks sometimes which is very funny to hear. She loves to have her stomach rubbed. Possibly since Halle had to take care of herself out in the cold cruel world at a very young age, she is a little territorial and has an alpha dog personality with other dogs. She would probably be happiest in a home with another more submissive dog or as the only dog in the home. She is so lovable that she will be the only dog someone needs. Dog adoptions start at $125 which includes all shots, spaying/neutering, flea/heartworm prevention or treatment AND a microchip! SCP is the best deal in town!

For more information on Halle please email SCP at pets2adopt@yahoo.com or call 281-286-3535.

Felicity and Freesia

Siamese-mix Sisters
Felicity and Freesia are Ragdoll/Siamese-mix sisters. They are white with startling blue eyes.  Both are part of SCP’s “special needs” animals.  Both babies are adorable but will need to go to someone very understanding because they both have subluxation of the hip joints. This condition exists when the thigh bone does not fit inside the cuplike shape of the hip joint. They also have their patella/ knees caps out of place.   The kittens were found in a field on a very rainy day, soaking wet, by animal control officers. They were taken to a shelter. A volunteer called SCP and asked the organization to take them.  They were very tiny, sick, malnourished, full of parasites, etc.  Both have wobbly heads and this is most likely due to slight brain damage. After much tender care they rallied into the gorgeous cats before you.  Freesia can jump up onto things but little Felicity cannot. She is the runt. But they are still super sweet and super playful. One or both may require surgery down the line, so they will need to have extra special care.  Felicity and Freesia are so playful and loving. Cat adoptions start at $95 but a discount will be given if a family is willing to take them into their hearts and home.

For more information on the Ragdolls please email SCP at pets2adopt@yahoo.com or call 281-286-3535.

Titan The Tortoise Goes Home With New Mom and Dad

Hi! It's TITAN here! First I want to thank TORTUGA HAVEN for taking me in and making sure I was given a good home! In fact, it is a great home. Yesterday I was the star at BARC! Mom and Dad were there to greet me and get to know me. They were quite busy but always made sure that they kept a good eye on me.

I was in heaven! I grazed and I met great people who looked after me and made sure I did not get in trouble! I had apples and some oranges. But mostly I grazed and took in as much sun as I needed. At times I went to a nice shaded area...but I could not get enough of the sun! find out more...

Hobo
Hobo is a 5-year-old Lab mix, weighs 75 lbs

Hobo is an easy goin' guy who seems to have lost his way.  On Christmas night he was all alone without a family to celebrate the holiday with.  Then along came someone who saw his need and invited him to join their family for Christmas.  He has adapted well to his new environment.  Probably since he was alone for a while, he has decided he really doesn't want that to happen again,so he gets very worried when he is left alone for long periods of time.  He will need to have someone he can depend on who will be at home a good part of the time.  Hobo is a 5-year-old Lab mix, weighs 75 lbs. and gets along well with his new dog and cat friends.  He is house-trained and is doing well with his leash training.  He doesn't chew on things and when he goes outside, he doesn't dig or try to get out of the backyard.  If you would like a real couch potato to enjoy your evening TV programs with, Hobo is the perfect dog for you.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas I want a home with lots of hands for lots of petting! My new family may even receive a love nibble if they do an outstanding job. I had a great time at a foster family's house relaxing and eating during Thanksgiving -- what a great time I had. I met their other three cats and very large dog, but I was too interested in getting pets to make friends. Please bring me my forever home for Christmas.

Love, Malibu

Two Lasa’s Need A New Family

These adorable siblings' owner passed away... so they need a new home.

Sam and Suzie born 7-24-04 Neutered & Spayed They are brother and sister and want to stay together. They are crate trained and really just want to be lap dogs. If you tell them "go to bed" they run into their crates and wait for a treat. They are good with other dogs. They have not been around small children but do well with older children.

Do you know anyone that would be interested in taking them? They would have to drive to near Dallas to pick up I think. Pass along to people you think would maybe want them.  Elderly woman passed away leaving these two beautiful babies. They have no place to go.

Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas – www.saveadane.org

Judy Jones and Stacey McMahan are the co-founders of the Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas.  The organization is newly founded (02/24/09) and relatively small. Volunteers are extremely dedicated to this breed and work tirelessly to rescue as many Great Danes as possible. We are an all volunteer organization and have made many strides in our short existence.

We try and educate the public about this breed and what specific needs Great Danes require.  We educate about spay/neuter, explain how our rescue operates, and can answer all questions regarding the Great Dane breed. A Great Dane is not a dog that is for everyone and they have very specific needs.

My personal Great Dane, Scooby is a Delta certified animal assisted therapy dog and works trade shows in Texas.  Pergo, is 7 years old, a Harlequin, and a great ambassador for the Great Dane breed.

We also offer micro-chipping and lots of doggie accessories.

Our website is www.saveadane.org or you can also find us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Great-Dane-Rescue-of-Southeast-Texas/282568604059.

I would like my very own person to follow around, lay beside and to just do whatever they want.
