Cork Board Event

September 5 – Redfish Raftup – Redfish Island, Galveston Bay

Calling all boaters and friends of boaters!

The Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) and www.Wiredin.cc are pleased to announce that the fifth annual Redfish Raft Up benefitting GBF will be held on Sunday, September 5th,  Labor Day weekend.

Gather up, tie up, paddle up, float up, motor up or sail up, this concert on the water will be the place to celebrate the holiday weekend.  In years past, over 150 boats have gathered around the Stargazer to listen to a concert by singer/songwriter Kelly McGuire.

There will be live entertainment scheduled throughout the day and Kelly and his band, will be performing from the deck of the Stargazer at approximately 2pm to 4pm.

New this year is the Redfish Raftup Raffle.  A boat load of wonderful treasures are being collected, including a 4 night stay at the Lost Laguna Resort in Costa Rica.  We’ll keep you updated on the inventory as we get closer to the event date.

Raffle tickets, t-shirt purchases and GBF Membership packages will all go on sale soon.

We’re in the planning stages so we have a couple of surprises still to be announced.  Stay tuned to www.Wiredin.cc for all the latest information.  Better yet, sign up for the eTalk of the Bay newsletter on www.Wiredin.cc and the latest Redfish Raftup information will come right to your desk top.

Tell all your friends, tell your family, tell everyone you know that Redfish Raftup 2010 is the place to be for Labor Day Weekend.  Check out the fun from last year’s Redfish Raftup!

No boat? No Problem! Join Star Fleet Yacht's Labor Day Party Cruise to Redfish Island. Tickets are typically around $75/person and include the 8-mile cruise to Redfish Island, PLUS beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks, hamburgers and hot dogs, and an up close concert by Kelly McGuire. Tickets will go on sale soon.

If you’d like to help, please take a look at our sponsorship opportunities.  Also, we’re building our inventory of raffle items so if you have something you’d like to contribute, just email Chiquita@Wiredin.cc.

Many Houston industries recognize Galveston Bay as their gateway to world markets.  At the same time, it is an incredibly productive estuary where fresh water from bayous and rivers mixes with salt water from the Gulf of Mexico to create a home and nursery for a host of fish, shellfish, birds and other species.  Galveston Bay enhances the quality of life for all area residents.  It provides recreational opportunities, including world class birding, fishing, sailing and boating.  Simply put, Galveston Bay is one of the treasures that makes Houston a wonderful place for businesses and their employees.

The Galveston Bay Foundation is a nonprofit organization that recognizes the many values of the Bay.  Its programs in advocacy, conservation, education, and research strive to ensure a healthy balance for the Bay, so that its beauty and productivity will be here for future generations, whether their use is recreational, commercial, residential or industrial.
